Less than a decade after the Internet rewrote the rules of customer engagement, mobile devices are inspiring further revisions—even whole new chapters. And to nearly everyone's surprise, the QR code is in the middle of the action.
From its humble roots in inventory tracking, the QR code has emerged as a key tool for connecting the real world to the digital world in the mobile era. In this new role QR codes enable marketers to engage customers wherever they happen to be at a given moment using measurable, effective, and budget-friendly digital marketing strategies.
In this presentation, we will survey recent QR code campaigns—some successful, some not so much—for the purposes of identifying emerging best practices in campaign development and execution.
We will also discuss (and speculate unashamedly about) the future of QR codes, taking a close and honest look at the opportunities and challenges marketers face pursuing QR code-based strategies—even as the new rules of mobile engagement are still being written.
Key Learning Objectives:
Develop a clear understanding of why QR code campaigns work, and why they fail
Develop a clear understanding of QR code best practices and the challenges they present marketers
Develop a sense of the different ways in which QR codes (and related technologies) may evolve and the challenges/opportunities that may emerge.
